Community Service

The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues has grown to be much greater than a law review.  In addition to publishing quality scholarly pieces aimed at bringing awareness and support to issues surrounding minorities, The Scholar has chosen to also show our support of the Mission by participating in community service projects.

Thanks to the ideas and dedication of Becky Gleason, Comments Editor of Volume 11, The Scholar began requiring the Staff to participate in community service projects during the Fall of 2008.  We are proud to be the only law review that maintains such a requirement.

Since 2008 The Scholar has participated with numerous organizations, such as:

Hurricane Ike Charity Drive  •  Battered Women’s  Shelter of San Antonio  •  Guadalupe Children’s Home

The Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree  •  The Children’s Shelter  •  Haiti Relief Project  •  ChildSafe

Habitat for Humanity • St. Mary’s University Halloween Boo Bash

San Antonio Food Bank • Austin Marathon for Kids • Hurricane Katrina Charity Drive
